Removing serial consoles from /etc/securetty can make troubleshooting a server extremely difficult. Deployers are urged to use strong physical security practices to prevent unauthorized users from gaining physical access to critical hosts. In addition, out-of-band systems that allow for serial over LAN access should also be heavily secured.
